Vinícius Junior has been crowned the Best Ibero-American Player of 2024. The prestigious EFE Trophy was presented to him at the Valdebebas, in Real Madrid Sports City, by Miguel Angel Oliver, president of the EFE Agency, with legendary compatriot Roberto Carlos in attendance. Roberto Carlos, a previous recipient of the award in 1998, added to the significance of the moment.
This marks Vinícius’ third EFE Trophy victory.
“I am very happy to win this award again,” Vinicius said. “I am very happy because it values the season, but I want to remember that without my teammates I would not be able to add this joy. They do the most difficult things, and hopefully it will not be the last, and more awards like this one can come. We finished the year with good feelings and we face the new one with great enthusiasm to win more and give our best version.”
Miguel Angel Oliver praised Vinícius’ incredible season, which has seen him collect numerous accolades, including FIFA’s The Best award:
“Vinícius, like Roberto Carlos, who you have at your side, your individual and collective successes already place you among the greatest in the history of the club. The EFE award has a long history. You are the seventh Brazilian to have it in your hands, and for your performance, your talent, and determination on the pitch, you deserve this award.”
Following the award, Vinícius joined his teammates for training at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium. The session, attended by over 5,000 fans, gave supporters an up-close look at Carlo Ancelotti’s squad as they prepared for the second half of the season during the festive period.
Vinícius Jr. now joins a distinguished list of Brazilian footballing legends who have won the EFE Trophy, including Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Romário, Ronaldo Nazário, Roberto Carlos, and Casemiro.
